Unrivaled Announces Series B Funding Round, Expansion Plans

Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 women's pro basketball league co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, has secured a Series B funding round at a $340 million valuation. This latest round was led by San Francisco-based investment firm Bessemer Venture Partners (BSP), and includes investments from Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Alex Morgan's venture capital firm Trybe Ventures, who returned as equity partners.

The round also saw contributions from notable figures such as Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, Orlando Magic brothers Frank and Moe Wagner, sports executive Sam Rapoport, University of Maryland president Darryll Pines and his wife, Sylvia, and venture firm Next Legacy Partners. The investment follows last year's Series A round, which raised $28 million and was led by Don Berman and his family.

With the new funding, Unrivaled plans to finance expansion to the metro Miami-based facility (Wayfair Arena) and increase player resources, including more development staff and trainers. The league is also considering a potential tour in non-WNBA cities, following a successful showcase during the WNBA All-Star Weekend.

However, the relationship between Unrivaled and the WNBA has grown more complex amid the WNBA's ongoing labor negotiations. The ongoing unrest could carry into January, which is when the Unrivaled season begins. Many individuals involved in Unrivaled have received equity as part of their deals, providing them with financial protection in case of continued labor unrest in the WNBA.

Unrivaled has also hired its first Chief Marketing Officer ahead of its second season, signalling a commitment to further growth and development. The league's average salary of $220,000 is near the WNBA's max base salary, making it a model for better pay in the industry.

Investors who participated in the current Series B financing round but were not involved in the previous Series A round are not explicitly named in the available search results. The information shows that Unrival completed their Series B round in August 2025, following a Series A round in December 2024, but details about the new investors distinct from Series A participants are not provided.

BSP, the leader of the latest funding round, also recently led a Series B round for software company Recall.ai at a $250 million valuation. Unrivaled's Series B funding round also includes an investment from Serena Ventures, a diversity-focused venture capital firm founded by Serena Williams.

As Unrivaled continues to grow and evolve, it remains committed to providing a platform for women's basketball players to showcase their skills and further the sport. With the support of its investors and the dedication of its team, the future looks bright for this innovative league.
