In a significant shift for the digital asset market, corporate Ethereum (ETH) holdings have seen a dramatic increase following the passage of the U.S. GENIUS Act legislation in 2025. This surge in accumulation is driven by the newfound regulatory clarity that has transformed Ethereum from a speculative asset into a strategic reserve and core financial infrastructure asset.

The GENIUS Act, designed to provide a clear regulatory framework for Ethereum staking and stablecoin reserve backing, has enabled major corporations to engage with ETH in a compliant manner. As a result, corporate reserves of Ethereum have risen by over 128% in 2025, now exceeding 2.7 million ETH (~$11.6 billion).

Major financial institutions and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) like BlackRock's ETHA are driving this continued accumulation. Ethereum ETFs are absorbing roughly 500,000 ETH monthly, contributing to the trend. Institutional infrastructure advances such as layer-2 solutions and tokenized asset frameworks are also playing a crucial role.

Ethereum's role in corporate treasuries is evolving, with "smart money" flowing into ETH, signaling a shift in how corporate treasuries view digital assets. Ethereum is no longer just seen as a speculative play but as foundational financial technology enabling tokenized finance and Decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications.

This increased institutional participation is pushing demand, tightening supply, and elevating prices. At its peak, ETH hit prices over $5,200. Corporate Ether holdings now approach nearly 8% of total supply, up from just 3% earlier in 2025, marking a remarkable institutional adoption acceleration.

The shift in corporate Ethereum accumulation post-GENIUS Act solidifies Ethereum’s position as a cornerstone of digital asset allocation and corporate treasury strategy in 2025. If confirmed, the technical target from the pennant structure projects ETH near $5,000.

Meanwhile, other developments are shaping the digital asset landscape. Cosmos Health has initiated a digital asset reserve strategy backed by a $300 million funding facility, aiming to explore yield-generating methods through staking or lending. In Indonesia, there are explorations of Bitcoin as a sovereign reserve asset, and BlackRock has declined to launch XRP and Solana ETFs amidst leadership shifts.

In the UAE, the SCA and Dubai VARA have unified crypto regulations, while Blue Origin now accepts Bitcoin for spaceflight tickets. However, the White House is considering fines on banks over political and crypto bias. The top 10 ETH holders among companies include BitMine with 833.1K ETH, SharpLink Gaming at 438.2K, The Ether Machine with 345.4K ETH, Coinbase, Bit Digital, and the Ethereum Foundation.

These developments underscore the growing importance of digital assets in corporate strategies and the ongoing evolution of the digital asset market.

  1. The GENIUS Act, which provides a clear regulatory framework for Ethereum staking and stablecoin reserve backing, has opened up possibilities for major corporations to engage with cryptocurrency in a compliant manner, leading to a significant increase in the holding of Ethereum.
  2. As Ethereum's role in corporate treasuries evolves, with institutional money flowing into Ethereum, blockchain technology is playing an increasing role in sports and other industries, with corporate sports organizations potentially exploring the use of cryptocurrencies and blockchain for ticket sales, sponsorships, and other transactional purposes.
