Quizzing Scheuer and Wissing on the Rahmede-Bridge Snafu Before the Parliamentary Panel
Inquiry Committee set to listen to testimonies from Scheuer and Wissing - Investigative Panel to Grill Scheuer and Wissing
Prepare for some rapid-fire questioning! The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (PUA) has decided to drag in former federal transport ministers Andreas Scheuer (CSU) and Volker Wissing (indie, ex-FDP) to answer questions on the Rahmede-Bridge debacle. According to the wire from dpa, here they come. The "Westphalian Newspaper" had earlier reported this.
Back then, Scheuer still held the reins when the feds stepped up to handle motorway bridges in NRW. Wissing followed suit. According to whispers from state parliament circles, the PUA chairman, Stefan Engstfeld (Greens), intends to set the questioning of these two former bigwigs for later this year.
Currently, the ex-NRW transport ministers Hendrik Wüst (CDU) and Ina Brandes (CDU), as well as the current office-holder Oliver Krischer (Greens), are slated for questioning on July 7th.
The Inquiry Committee is delving into the reasons behind the sudden closure without warning of the Rahmede Bridge on the A45, following experts' discovery of severe damage on December 2, 2021. The old Rahmede Bridge was demolished in May 2023, with the new one set for a spring 2024 grand opening.
