Investigative Documentary: traversing the untold tales, not just about ice, titled "Beyond the Blue Line" (aired between 20:15 to 21:55)

In the heart of Rostock, 1989, lifelong pals Hanna Klein and Andreas Kuschwitz share a complicated bond, with the latter often butting heads with the system. Jens, a mate from Saxony, adds to their unconventional trio. Hanna, a competitive swimmer with Olympic dreams, trains relentlessly under the scrutiny of her tough trainer, Ulrich. Meanwhile, Andreas' rebellion escalates, earning him a stint in a youth labor camp for 're-education'.

As Andreas emerges from the camp, he's marked and shunned. Despite Hanna rising to a sports school, she can't ignore their friendship. Secret meetings ensue where they find solace from the rigid system and the ever-watchful eyes. Yet, Andreas' return from the camp reveals a changed soul, suffering under the repressive DDR regime.

Upon hearing that their friend Jens is leaving the DDR with his family, Hanna and Andreas are stunned. In a bid to escape, Andreas proposes a daring plan—swimming across the Baltic Sea to Fehmarn. He requests Hanna to train him, pushing her to choose between her sports career and her loyalty to her friend. When she sides with Andreas, they make the risky decision to flee, leaving behind her swimming aspirations and family.

Sports still play a significant role in Hanna's life, as she prepares to train Andreas for an unprecedented escape, putting her swimming career on hold to participate in a dangerous sports event – swimming across the Baltic Sea. Even though their shared passion for sports unites them, the gravity of their decision to flee divides them, creating a new dynamic that goes beyond the usual sports camaraderie.
