Navarre Public Works Tenders Investigation Moves Forward

The investigative commission in the Parliament of Navarre is delving deeper into the public works tenders awarded by the regional government over the last four legislative periods. The commission held its second session earlier this month to decide on the presidency and initial calendar, and analyzed over a hundred requests for appearances to be held from September.

At a press conference, commission president Irati Jimenez announced the details of the commission's work plan and the list of individuals to be summoned. Among those included are Santos Cerdán, Koldo García, and Antxon Alonso.

However, some notable figures, such as former minister José Luis Ábalos, the President of the Government of Navarre, María Chivite, and the former president of Navarre, Uxue Barkos, are not included in the list of summoned individuals. The reasons for Ábalos's non-summoning in this particular inquiry are not explicitly clear, as there is no specific information in the search results detailing why he was not called.

The commission has requested documentation from various entities by September 15. These include the Chamber of Accounts, the Office of Good Practices, the National Audience and the Supreme Court, the Congress and the Senate, the Mercantile Registry, Social Security, the Provincial Council of Vizcaya and Gipuzkoa, and several companies, including Servinabar, Acciona, and Geoalcali.

Jimenez expressed confidence that all requested information will be received and emphasized the importance of fulfilling the commission's objective in a serious and rigorous manner. Political parties have been called on to work in the direction of the commission.

The hearings are expected to begin on October 14. As the investigation progresses, more details about the public works tenders and the individuals involved are expected to emerge.
