Investigative Body Reveals Findings: Report Uncovers Data on Commission's Activities
Meet Barbara Edelhagen, Neuss' Fresh New Police Chief
For a decade, Thomas Desgronte reigned as the brains behind the Office of Police Administration in Neuss, Germany. But with his recent retirement, a new era has begun as Barbara Edelhagen takes the reins, becoming the first woman to lead this office.
County Commissioner and head of the police department, Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, praised Desgronte's impressive tenure while voicing his high expectations for Edelhagen. She kicked off her criminal justice career in 1991 with the city of Dormagen before joining the Rhein-Kreis Neuss in 2006 to fortify its audit department. She climbed the ranks, becoming director of the driver's license office in 2016, and eventually the deputy head of the office. Edelhagen's most recent accomplishment was helming the vaccination center of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss from November 2020 to March 2023. Since mid-2023, the 48-year-old has been at the helm of the police administration on Jülicher Straße in Neuss.
