Investigation underway for Chancellor Merkel on a cruise voyage
Get ready for an exciting new episode of the crime-comedy series "Miss Merkel," airing on RTL and available early on RTL+. This 90-minute long episode, titled "Miss Merkel - A Cruise Ship Crime," promises to deliver a thrilling mystery set on a luxurious cruise ship.
The series follows a fictionalised version of Angela Merkel, the former German Chancellor, as she relocates to a small town with her husband and pug, Helmut. In this new role, she discovers an unexpected talent for detective work. Katharina Thalbach portrays the character based on Merkel in the series.
The episode, based on another novel by David Safier ("Miss Merkel: Murder at Sea"), sees Merkel investigating a murder case. The victim is none other than Florian Watzek, a character dubbed the "Megastar of German Thrillers." Stephan Luca portrays Watzek in the series.
The production and writing team includes Safier and Stefan Cantz, with Christoph Schnee directing. This series, which combines mystery, satire, and political parody, has also attracted international interest, having been picked up by the U.S. streamer MHz Choice.
Previously, "Miss Merkel" has brought viewers "Miss Merkel: Murder in the Castle" and "Miss Merkel: Murder on the Graveyard." These episodes are still available on RTL+. The third episode, currently in production, is set to continue the series' unique blend of suspense and humor.
