Investigation Launched by CGPJ over Judge Peinado following a grievance lodged by Bolaños, concerning Peinado's examination in the Begoña Gómez case
In a series of unexpected developments, investigative proceedings have been initiated against Judge Juan Carlos Peiño and Minister Felix Bolaños in Spain.
The events unfolded following a complaint filed by Minister Bolaños with the Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with the Courts, Felix Bolaños. The complaint was prompted by a statement taken from Minister Bolaños by Judge Peiño on April 16 in the Moncloa complex.
Minister Bolaños' statement during the interview with Judge Peiño was marked by tension, according to reports. However, it has been confirmed that Minister Bolaños did not intend to make these writings public.
The information about the resumed investigation became public due to Judge Peiño's August 18 ruling, where he mentioned the opening of an investigative proceeding against him by the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ). The CGPJ, it seems, has taken the matter seriously, initiating investigative proceedings against Judge Peiño.
The investigative proceedings are based on the statement that Judge Peiño took from Minister Bolaños regarding the hiring of Cristina Álvarez, the advisor to the wife of the President of the Government. The Supreme Court, however, has ruled out investigating Minister Bolaños in the Begoña Gómez case due to lack of evidence.
Judge Peiño, in a move that has further complicated the matter, submitted a reasoned report to the Supreme Court, requesting the investigation of Minister Bolaños for false testimony. However, the high court reproached Judge Peiño for the "absolute absence of any minimum founded indication or endowed with minimum credibility of the participation" of Bolaños in the crimes mentioned.
The investigative proceedings against Judge Peiño were confirmed by legal sources, and the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has appointed Ricardo Conde as the promoter of the Disciplinary Action.
Begoña Gómez and her advisor have been summoned to testify on September 10 and 11, adding another layer of intrigue to this developing story. Judge Peiño, during the same period, is expected to appear before the hearings scheduled for the same dates.
As the investigations continue, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on this complex situation involving two high-ranking officials in the Spanish government.
