Investigation involving actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine regarding dishonest practices

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine are facing a financial fraud case, with a First Information Report (FIR) filed under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. The case was registered following a complaint by P S Shamnas, who was a co-producer of Nivin Pauly's 2022 film "Mahaveeryar."

According to the complaint, Shamnas invested around Rs 1.9 crore based on assurances made by Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine. The actor had promised to repay Rs 95 lakh and involve Shamnas as a co-producer in the upcoming film "Action Hero Biju 2," directed by Shine. However, Shamnas alleges that he was cheated after Nivin Pauly and Shine entered into a distribution arrangement with a Dubai-based firm, hiding that the movie was registered under Shamnas' banner, Indian Movie Makers.

The complainant has not yet been compensated for his losses, according to the report. Neither Nivin Pauly nor Abrid Shine has publicly addressed the allegations in detail, but Pauly has clarified that the dispute is under court-directed arbitration, with a gag order in place. He expressed concerns about the new case being registered despite ongoing arbitration and hinted at pursuing legal action.

It is worth noting that "Action Hero Biju 2" was earlier registered under Shamnas' company, Indian Movie Makers, as per the complaint. The earlier contract for the film showed that it was being made under Nivin Pauly's production house, as alleged by Shamnas.

Meanwhile, Disney Pixar's Hoppers is set to hit Indian theatres in March 2026. The release date for the much-anticipated animated film is eagerly awaited by fans.

As the case unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, providing clarity on the financial dispute surrounding "Action Hero Biju 2" and the allegations against Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine. The public will be keeping a close eye on the developments in this case.
