Investigation into a deceased teenager found in a Tesla triggers D4vd's cancellation of his US tour and deluxe album release.
In a shocking turn of events, the ongoing investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas has led to the cancellation of several events and promotional activities associated with artist D4vd.
On September 8, a body was found in a vehicle registered to the musician, prompting the authorities to be called out after a foul odour was reported. The vehicle, a Tesla, was found with the body inside a bag in the front boot, and it appears the body had been there for a couple of days.
The string of US shows was set to wrap up on September 19 and 20, but both dates have now been cancelled due to the ongoing investigation. Interscope, D4vd's label, has put a hold on all promotional activities, including the planned release of a deluxe version of his album 'Withered: Marcescence'.
Earlier this week, it emerged that D4vd was reportedly staying in the home that Los Angeles Police recently searched in connection to a missing teenage girl. However, there are no search results directly linking a suspect to an investigation against someone named David at this time.
The upcoming tour dates in Europe and the UK are still officially scheduled, but it seems unlikely they will go ahead amid the investigation. TMZ reports that Rivas' mother allegedly said that her daughter had been dating someone called "David", but this has not been confirmed.
In a surprising turn, D4vd continued his tour as normal after the body was discovered, thanking fans and even throwing Labubus into the crowd at a recent gig. However, both Crocs and Hollister have pulled back on a campaign that was set to feature D4vd. The brands removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues.
Celeste Rivas is described as having wavy black hair and a tattoo on her right index finger that reads, "Shhh...". People reported in April that D4vd has a similar "Shhh..." tattoo on his index finger.
The victim's family declined to share any comment with reporters outside their home. D4vd's lawyer has not issued a statement at time of writing. Law enforcement said earlier this month that D4vd had been informed of the investigation and was "cooperating" with authorities. The cause of death for Celeste Rivas has not been publicly shared.
An upcoming event at the Grammy Museum scheduled for September 24 has also been cancelled. The car stayed in the location where it was found for at least three weeks before being towed to an impound lot on September 5.
As the investigation continues, fans and the music industry await further developments in this tragic case.
