Danish Netflix Crime Drama 'Dept. Q' delves into the life of Detective Carl Morck, who, following a tragedy that left his partner paralyzed and a younger officer dead, spearheads Department Q, a new police division tasked with reopening cold cases.
In the fourth episode, the search for missing prosecutor Merritt Lingard intensifies, threatening to unravel Carl's world. The episode opens with Merritt frantically searching for a hat on a ferry. Wearing sunglasses and a scarf, a stranger approaches her, puts a pillowcase over her head, and whisks her away to a sealed chamber.
Carl consults with Dr. Irving about his stepson, Jasper, surprising her with the revelation that Jasper doesn't live with his mother due to her extensive work travel. The conversation ends abruptly when Dr. Irving informs Carl that his time is up.
Meanwhile, DCI Bruce continues to work on the Leith Park case, exchanging barbs with Carl. Bruce struggles to reconcile Carl's theory that the shooter entered the flat from the outside, as the back door was blocked, with the evidence of the scene's tampering.

Back at Department Q, the team examines the markings on the photograph. Akram pinpoints Lila Lingard's necklace as the item circled, revealing that Merritt returned to Mhor specifically to retrieve it on the day of Harry Jennings's funeral.
As Carl returns home, he finds his ex-wife, Victoria, in conversation with lodger Martin. Victoria informs Carl that Jasper has left and is staying with his grandmother, adding insight into Carl's strained relationship with his stepson.
In the chamber where Merritt was initially held, she notices various signs and starts to speculate about her captor's identity. Concurrently, Rose's investigation in Mhor sheds light on Harry Jennings's temperament and the intriguing connection between him and Merritt.
