Investigation concludes in apprehending perpetrator behind assassination attempt
In a series of events that unfolded over the course of several days, police officers in Cologne, Germany, have been actively identifying a violent attack that took place on September 12, 2025.
The initial arrests were made on September 12, when police officers executed arrest warrants against two 19-year-old suspects. Since then, intensive investigations and the evaluation of private video recordings have led to the identification of five additional suspects.
On Tuesday, September 16, the officers searched the apartments of these newly identified suspects in the districts of Nippes and Müngersdorf, Cologne, and in locations outside of Cologne, specifically in Rhineland-Palatinate. The searches were carried out based on a court order.
Two of the suspects surrendered to the police at a police station and the Cologne District Court in the presence of their lawyers. The arrest warrants were issued for attempted murder, though no specific details about the crimes committed by the newly identified suspects were provided.
The 19-year-old suspect who was arrested on Tuesday is the only one whose age is specified in the article. The ages of the other suspects are not mentioned.
As of Wednesday, September 17, no specific new arrests are reported for Cologne-Nippes and Rhineland-Palatinate. However, it is confirmed that five suspects related to the violent attack on a bouncer in Cologne-Nippes were identified, with multiple arrests executed around September 12 and 16, including one in Rhineland-Palatinate, and two suspects voluntarily presented themselves to authorities.
The investigations are still ongoing.
