Investigation agency, the Enforcement Directorate, calls upon Suresh Raina for questioning in relation to the Online Betting App Scandal, disclosing further details.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in India has launched a wide-ranging investigation into illegal betting activities, with several celebrities and former cricketers under scrutiny for their alleged involvement with betting apps.

In May, cases were registered against 25 well-known actors, including Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj, linked to betting cases. However, these actors denied any unlawful conduct, stating they no longer promote such platforms and, during the period they did, it was in areas where online skill-based games were legally permitted.

Bollywood actor Urvashi Rautela is also under investigation for her endorsement of these platforms. Another former Indian cricketer has been asked to appear before the agency, though the name has not been disclosed.

The ED is actively investigating money laundering charges against several betting apps and platforms, including Lotus65 and FairPlay. The investigation is linked to an app named 1xBet.

Rana Daggubati appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad on August 11, having initially been summoned on July 23 but requesting more time due to film commitments. Prakash Raj also appeared before the ED in Hyderabad on Monday. Both actors denied any wrongdoing, claiming they no longer promote such platforms.

Suresh Raina, a former Indian cricketer, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate and is expected to record his statement on August 13. The summons to Suresh Raina is part of a wider crackdown on illegal betting apps and platforms.

The investigation is part of an ongoing probe into the alleged illegal promotion of online betting platforms. The Enforcement Directorate is also investigating the financial dealings and digital footprints of several other celebrities, including actors Manchu Lakshmi, Nidhi Agarwal, Ananya Nagalla, and TV anchor Srimukhi.

This investigation highlights the wide-reaching nature of the ED's efforts to curb illegal betting activities in India, involving both celebrities and tech companies. The event occurs in various locations across India, including Delhi and Hyderabad.

The information is based on a report by India Today. It is important to note that this is an ongoing investigation, and all parties involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
