New Freelander E0V SUV to Enter Chinese Market in 2026
The automotive landscape in China is set for a shake-up with the impending arrival of the Freelander E0V SUV. This full-size electric vehicle (EV) is poised to challenge the established players in the Chinese market, including the Yangwang U8, Zeekr 9X, Deepal S09, and Geely Galaxy M9.
The Freelander E0V, internally known as the E0V, is being developed by the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture. It is built on the Chery-developed E0X modular architecture, making it compatible with both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain variants.
At first glance, the Freelander E0V might appear compact due to its short bumpers and long wheelbase. However, it is a full-size vehicle with a body length of around 5.1 meters. Its body shape resembles the Range Rover Sport, but with a high ground clearance that sets it apart in the market.
The Freelander E0V features retractable door handles, slanted A-pillars, large side-view mirrors, and rides on blackened rims. It also boasts air suspension and L2 ADAS, indicating a focus on comfort and safety.
The Freelander E0V is part of the high-end Exeed brand and is expected to enter the Chinese market in 2026. It will initially launch in China with long-term overseas ambitions.
The Yangwang U8 and Zeekr 9X are strong rivals within the luxury and premium segment, while the Deepal S09 and Geely Galaxy M9 represent more affordable options competing in the same segment. The segment is highly competitive, reflecting China's crowded and rapidly growing EV full-size crossover market with multiple domestic brands vying for leadership.
