Investigating the manhunt for Travis Decker, suspected in the fatal shootings of his daughters
In a chilling discovery, the remains of Travis Decker and his three daughters, 9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia Decker, were found at a campground outside Leavenworth, Washington. Their father's truck was also present at the scene.
Authorities began searching for the family after they failed to return home following a scheduled visit. The search, covering hundreds of square miles of rugged terrain, including mountainous and remote land, initially focused on a remote alpine lake where authorities thought they spotted Decker.
However, the remains were eventually found in a remote wooded area near Grindstone Mountain, not far from the campground. The exact location or timing of the discovery was not disclosed.
Travis Decker, who once lived off the grid in the backwoods, had training in navigation, survival, and other skills that made him well-equipped for such a life. An autopsy determined that the girls died from suffocation.
DNA analysis will be conducted by officials handling the case to confirm whether the remains found in the mountains belong to Travis Decker. The remains are currently undergoing DNA testing to establish identity.
No further details were provided about the ongoing search for Decker. The case continues to baffle investigators and leave the community in shock. As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, providing a clearer picture of this tragic event.
