Heavy storms hit the Krasnodar region in Russia around August 3-4, 2025, causing flooding, tornadoes, mudslides, and the collapse of a bridge in several villages. The disaster has severely disrupted tourism and local life, with many people evacuated and infrastructure damaged or destroyed.

The flooding affected at least 70 residential areas and 34 homes, particularly in villages like Defanovka, Moldavanovka, Novomikhailovsky, and Lermontovo. In Lermontovo, a bridge across the Shapsukho River collapsed, isolating around 300 homes. A tornado hit coastal areas near Sochi and the village of Aghoy, causing destruction and panic among residents and tourists. Mudslides and heavy rains paralyzed traffic on the Don highway, affecting multiple communities across Krasnodar Krai.

More than 150 emergency workers and 44 units of special equipment have been deployed for rescue and flood mitigation efforts. Authorities prepared temporary accommodation centers with about 100 places for displaced residents, with stories of people evacuated using rescue assistance due to strong water flow. Storm warnings remain active, forecasting continued heavy precipitation, hail, thunderstorms, and high winds in the region, especially in the Kuban area and Black Sea coastlines.

The governor of the Tuapse district, Venjamin Kondratyev, declared a state of emergency due to the flooding in the Krasnodar region. The declaration was made on the platform Telegram. Rescue teams rescued 25 people from a bus that had fallen off a bridge. The flooding and rising rivers are a result of heavy rainfall in the Krasnodar region.
