New IMAX Cinema Opens in Leipzig, Offering Unparalleled Movie Experience
In an exciting development for cinema enthusiasts in Leipzig, Germany, the city's Cinestar at Petersbogen is set to unveil an innovative IMAX cinema hall. This new addition boasts a colossal IMAX screen, measuring an impressive 20 metres by 10.90 metres, making it a whopping 218 square metres in size.
This exclusive IMAX screen, crafted specifically for the purpose, is equipped with so-called 'Screen-shakers', designed to optimise the laser imagery. The accompanying projection system is a cutting-edge IMAX 4K-Laser projector, guaranteeing extraordinary image quality. The immersive sound system comprises twelve individual speakers, complemented by additional four-way speakers strategically placed throughout the auditorium. These speakers are meticulously calibrated daily to ensure pristine audio on reference level at every seat.
This installation marks the first IMAX cinema in Eastern Germany outside of Berlin, making it unique in the region. The location in Petersbogen Leipzig offers the most advanced IMAX technology in a spacious hall with 511 seats, many of which feature electrically adjustable Recliner chairs with extra-wide armrests, enhancing the cinematic experience considerably.
The new IMAX hall boasts exceptional sound quality, thanks to its special speakers. This exceptional sound quality is ensured by daily calibrations, ensuring a perfect audio experience for every viewer.
The premiere of the film "The Canoe of Manitu" is planned for mid-next week, marking the official opening of the new IMAX cinema hall. The installation process, which took place on Monday, saw thirty men in white gloves carefully manoeuvre the heavy IMAX screen into the fourth floor of Leipzig Cinestar. The screen was transported to Leipzig by ship and truck before being lifted into the cinema hall by a crane.
This combination of a particularly large screen, cutting-edge visual and audio technologies, and comfortable seating makes the CineStar IMAX at Petersbogen the most innovative IMAX experience currently available in Eastern Germany.
