Introducing the 2025 All-Observer Girls' Track Team - the regional standouts leading the charge in athletics
Hometown hero Maya Love, a senior at Independence High, sweeps the 2025 All-Observer girls' track awards. This remarkable athlete secured state titles in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and anchored Independence's state championship 400-meter relay team.
Meanwhile, Al Pearman of Charlotte Country Day is this year's coach of the year, leading the Bucs to their third straight NCISAA Division I state title, edging fierce rival Providence Day by just half a point. With a history of 37 years at the helm of the Country Day track program, Pearman's legacy undoubtedly continues to grow.
The CDS girls' team also earned state titles from Jada Erwin in the 400-meter dash, Maya Pal in the high jump, and their 3,200-meter relay team consisting of Harless Lane, Harper Schwartz, Lily Giardi, and Lindsey Kerrins.

In the realm of sports, football seems to be conspicuously absent from Maya Love's achievements, as she dominated the 2025 All-Observer girls' track awards in events such as the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Meanwhile, one might wonder if football is just another dimension for coaches like Al Pearman to showcase their prowess, given his impressive streak with the Charlotte Country Day Bucs in track and field.
