Introducing New Recruits to the Silk Road Team by "MAZ-SPORTAVTO"
Prepare for an exhilarating adventure as the 15th international rally-raid event, the Silk Way Rally, prepares to kick off from July 12 to 22. One of the most anticipated participants in this year's race is the Belarusian team, MAZ-SPORTauto, who will be competing in this gruelling rally-marathon.
The Silk Way Rally, known for its challenging terrain and long distances, covers approximately 5000 km, starting in Irkutsk and ending in Gorno-Altaisk. This year, the route includes an increased number of mountain sections and long sandy stretches, making it more demanding than ever before.
The MAZ-SPORTauto team, historically known for its strong performances in the truck category, will field three MAZ-6440RR trucks for the 2025 edition. The leading crew for the rally consists of Sergey Viazovich, Pavel Garanin, and Andrei Kargelski. Another crew, formed by Pavel Murylev, Sergey Sachuk, and Artem Chalevich, is also set to compete.
Murylev, the main pilot, and Sachuk, who has switched from mechanic to navigator, are seasoned rally-raid competitors, while Chalevich is making his Silk Way debut. Vitaliy Murylev, Alexander Shved, and Yevgeniy Tiunel will also join the team for the event.
Tiunel, a new addition to the team, will make his debut as a mechanic for the MAZ-SPORTauto team. The crew returned to competition after a serious accident at the "Hills of Russia" off-road last fall. Prior to the upcoming rally, the team participated in the "Golden Kagan" and "Arched" races with two crews.
Competitors will navigate through rocky mountain roads and the sands of the Gobi Desert, with around 2500 km of high-speed special stages. The event includes categories for trucks (T5), off-road vehicles, motorcycles, and quads, promising a thrilling spectacle for all rally-raid enthusiasts.
For those eager to follow the progress of the MAZ-SPORTauto team and other participants, we recommend keeping an eye on the official Silk Way Rally website or social media channels, press releases from the MAZ-SPORTauto team, and motorsport news outlets covering rally-raid events in 2025.
