Interview with Don Jamal

Don Jamal and Justin Jay have been creating waves in the music industry, with their collaborations including a remix of Levity's viral track "Flip It" and "Is this a dream?" from Justin's newest album. Don Jamal, a multinational artist, is making a name for himself with his unique blend of UK bass music influences and a carefree approach to production.

Born in Jordan and raised in Saudi Arabia, Don Jamal's exposure to British culture was significant, particularly through attending a British international school and summer breaks spent in the UK. It was during these formative years that he discovered UK bass music through YouTube channels like UKF and Premier League football.

Starting his journey with just a kitchen table and Apple earphones, Don Jamal has shown that you don't need fancy equipment to make good music. His music extends beyond any specific genre, incorporating elements of breakbeats, techno, and dubstep.

Don Jamal's music is centred around creating tracks that will have the crowd going wild every time a DJ drops them. This year, his favourite festival set was at Lightning in a Bottle. He has also played surprise b2b sets with Zeds Dead and Skrillex, performed at Infrasound and Lightning in a Bottle festivals, and collaborated with Justin Jay.

His 'Duelist' EP, recently released on Wubaholics, aims to mix old-school dubstep with a new-school style and create club bangers. The EP does not tell a story in the three tracks, but it definitely gets the crowd going.

Don Jamal has also been featured on the 'We Are Deadbeats Vol. 6' compilation. Ternion Sound has been a big inspiration for Don Jamal's Don Jamal project, and his first big stage play of one of his songs was by Ternion Sound at Mission Ballroom on July 4, 2022.

Don Jamal decided to pursue music as a full-time career after realizing he could get the same feeling of playing in front of a big crowd from DJing. He started producing music in Santa Barbara, California in 2019 and moved to Colorado to chase his dream, finding Denver's music scene to be like Disneyland for dubstep.

While life on the road can be a dream for Don Jamal, it also requires hard work and time. There's travel, sleepless nights, set preps, sound checks, and more. However, the energy from the crowds makes it all worth it.

Unfortunately, there is no publicly available sourced content addressing Don Jamal's personal perspective on touring or surprises about tour life. We can only speculate about the challenges and joys he encounters on his journey. Nonetheless, Don Jamal's career is a testament to his passion for music and his ability to captivate crowds with his unique sound.
