He will also miss the legislative accomplishments he has been part of during his time in office, including serving on the Task Force on New York Canada Relations, which has become increasingly important due to the ongoing trade war.
Jones has always focused on issues, people, and collaborations rather than trying to obliterate the persona and personality of those he disagreed with. He is capable of taking criticism but does not want to contribute to the nastiness. He believes that it is not a good environment to get anything done.
Jones, who has a 12-year-old daughter, is looking forward to spending more time with his family as a reason for leaving office.
