Ulrich "Ulli" Potofski, a renowned football commentator and a die-hard Schalke fan, will be laid to rest at the Schalke Fan-Field in Gelsenkirchen. The burial, originally scheduled for June 21, 2023, was postponed to August 22, 2025, at 11:04 AM in the chapel of the Schalke Fan-Field.

Potofski, who passed away on August 3, 2022, at the age of 73, made a significant impact in sports reporting, working for RTL in the 1980s, later moving on to Sport1 and Sky. His former station, RTL, reported the news of his burial.

The Schalke Fan-Field, located near the Veltins Arena, is a community grave where fans can remain connected to their beloved club even beyond death. Potofski's burial was made possible through donations collected through the "Schalker Markt" foundation.

Esther Sedlaczek, a sport presenter, bid farewell to Potofski on Instagram, sharing several photos with him and mentioning countless wonderful memories of their time together and his unique personality.

Catholic priest Gereon Alter (58), a Schalke fan, will lead the ceremony for Potofski. Alter was suggested for the ceremony due to his involvement in the podcast "Sprenger'speaks". Christian Sprenger, a friend of Potofski, emphasized that Alter embodies the qualities that Potofski stood for.

Unfortunately, CDU politician Wolfgang Bosbach cannot participate in Potofski's funeral due to scheduling conflicts. No information was provided about other colleagues, companions, or friends speaking at the funeral.

Potofski was born in Gelsenkirchen on July 7, 1952. He will be buried on the Schalke Fan-Field, a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to football and his beloved club, Schalke 04.

Despite the two-year delay, Ulrich "Ulli" Potofski, known for his passion for football and the European leagues, especially the Premier League, will have to forego commentating any more matches, as he's not going to be able to do this anymore. His funeral, scheduled for August 22, 2025, at the Schalke Fan-Field, serves as a testament to his lifelong dedication to sports and his beloved club, Schalke 04.
