Following a massive "Kicker" survey with 216 Bundesliga pros participating, the results are out, and it's no mystery who comes out on top. Despite the Champions League winner not holding the throne, it's clear as day that Hansi Flick reigns supreme.
Flick's success with Bayern Munich catapulted him into the spotlight in 2020, winning the triple of championship, cup, and Champions League. Now, his title as a "super coach" is practically confirmed, with the former national coach receiving 31.9% of the votes, putting him in a tie with PSG[1].
The Spaniard, Luis Enrique, takes the second spot, unsurprisingly. Recently, he achieved something extraordinary - Paris St. Germain's first-ever Champions League title. With a final score of 5:0, it was a historic victory for PSG, but one that wasn't enough to claim the top spot for Enrique[1].
Xabi Alonso, who's leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer to take over Real Madrid, claims the bronze medal with 11.6% of the votes[1]. Despite a less-than-stellar season compared to the previous year, Alonso's commendable work hasn't gone unnoticed.
The surprise of the survey comes in fourth, with Pep Guardiola snagging 9.3% of the votes[1]. Despite a horror season for Manchester City, as perceived by their own high standards, Guardiola still manages a respectable position in the ranking.
Arne Slot rounds out the top five, with 8.8% of the votes, perhaps undervalued. The Dutchman led Liverpool FC to the championship in his first year after Jürgen Klopp[1]. The only mark against his record was their round of 16 exit in the Champions League against PSG, but even in defeat, they managed to win the pot in the end.
Interestingly, the "Kicker" also conducted a vote for the best player in the world. The result was decisive, with over half of the voting Bundesliga professionals naming Lamine Yamal. In second place, Ousmane Dembélé received 6.9% of the votes. The surprising inclusion? Florian Wirtz, with 4.2%, positioned between France's star striker Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona's Raphinha[1].
