International U15 Football Tournament Coming to 's-Heerenberg
Get ready for an exciting football event as the International U15 Football Tournament is set to take place in 's-Heerenberg, Netherlands on August 23, 2022. This tournament, now in its sixth edition, will be held at the Marinus van Rooijen sports park, featuring eight professional clubs from around the globe.
The participating teams include defending champion Fortuna Düsseldorf, last year's finalist Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, De Grafschaap Doetinchem, SC Heerenveen, a joint team from FC Twente Enschede and Heracles Almelo, and SK Lommel from Belgium. The tournament organisers announced that SK Lommel has replaced KAA Gent at short notice due to Gent's withdrawal.
The Leverkusen youth team will be accommodated at the youth conference center in Wolfsberg, Nütterden, and will hold a multi-day training camp in the border region starting Wednesday. After their training, they will participate in the tournament and face off against Ajax Amsterdam in a test match before participating in the main event.
The tournament will kick off at 10:30 AM, with the first games starting at 10:45 AM. Following the group stage, there will be a third-place playoff and the final. The games will take place on two artificial pitches in the Marinus van Rooijen sports park.
In addition to the main tournament, visitors can enjoy an entertaining fringe program at the event on Montferlandsestraat. Some 8- to 13-year-old youth players from De Grafschaap and VfB Rheingold Emmerich will have the opportunity to participate in a training session with former professionals. The training session will be followed by a penalty shootout against the professional goalkeeper of De Graafschap.
For Royal Antwerp fans, the Belgian club will represent their country in the tournament. Visitors aged 16 and above will pay two euros, with free entry for children.
