International Tour Commemorating Anniversary of Romanian Chamber Music Festival - SoNoRo 20
🎉 Happy 20th Anniversary to SoNoRo Chamber Music Festival! 🎉
This iconic ensemble kicked off their glorious anniversary tour in Buenos Aires and is now holding three mesmerizing concerts in Belgium, commencing this week! After Belgium, the tour continues in Munich, Vienna, Berlin, Budapest, Madrid, and Seville, culminating in a grand finale at Carnegie Hall in New York.
In celebration of 145 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Belgium, SoNoRo will perform in Ghent, Brussels, and Antwerp from April 28 to May 4. Expect an unforgettable symphony at the MIRY Concertzaal in Ghent, Museum of Musical Instruments in Brussels, and De Singel/ Blue Hall in Antwerp.
The illustrious lineup includes Răzvan Popovici (viola), Diana Ketler (piano), Justus Grimm (cello), Erik Schumann (violin), and Aylen Pritchin (violin), alongside talented young musicians associated with the Conservatory of Antwerp. The eclectic repertoire ranges from timeless classics like "Clair de Lune" and "Für Elise" to whimsical pieces such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
SoNoRo, established in 2004, is renowned for merging traditional European chamber music with a fresh, innovative spirit. They have graced stages at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Wigmore Hall, and Konzerthaus, and also span the globe, playing in Athens, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Paris, and Sofia. Their performances encompass collaborations with video artists, improvisations with DJs, and literary-musical projects.
Răzvan Popovici, the driving force behind SoNoRo, has performed at esteemed halls such as the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and Théâtre-des-Champs-Elysées in Paris. He's collaborated with a pantheon of greats, including Konstantin Lifschitz, Natalia Gutman, Daishin Kashimoto, Mihaela Ursuleasa, and Gilles Apap. As the guest violist for ensembles like the Essen Philharmonic, Kobe Chamber Orchestra, and Salzburg Chamber Philharmonic, Răzvan Popovici continues to elevate SoNoRo's status in the world of chamber music.
In addition to the SoNoRo chamber music festival, the Romanian Cultural Institute partners with the SoNoRo cultural platform. This extensive network includes the SoNoRo Festival, SoNoRo Interferențe, scholarships and workshops for young musicians, SoNoRo On Tour, SoNoRo Arezzo, SoNoRo Conac, a series of summer concerts in heritage buildings in Romania, and SoNoRo Musikland, a festival dedicated to Transylvanian musical heritage.
