Despite clinching the Oberliga championship, local favorites Sportfreunde Siegen were left trophy-less during their triumphant celebrations. But fear not, football fans, an anonymous returner brought the elusive prize to the club’s business office on Thursday morning.
To clarify, the title was already assured for the Siegen side on May 4, however, the Champion's Trophy itself was not handed over until the home game against Bochum II last Saturday.
Amidst the exhilaration of almost 5,000 spectators, the promoted team hoisted the Champion's Trophy on the balcony for all to see. Yet, during the wild festivities, the trophy mysteriously vanished, according to coach Thorsten Nehrbauer.
