Julian Weber, the European Championships title winner from Munich three years ago, once again missed out on a global medal at the Athletics World Championships in Oregon, USA. Weber's disappointing performance was attributed to a recent illness that left him bedridden for a week.

Weber's best throw at the competition was 86.11 meters, which placed him fifth. Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago clinched the gold with a throw of 88.16 meters, while Anderson Peters from Grenada finished second. The bronze medal went to Curtis Thompson from the USA, who surprised many with his third-place finish.

Coach Burkhard Looks described Weber's performance as "just arm throwing," suggesting that Weber failed to fully involve his legs. Looks also pointed to Weber's illness as a significant factor in his poor showing.

Despite his struggles in Oregon, Weber expressed his determination to come back stronger. His season's best throw was not achieved during the World Championships, indicating that he still has room for improvement.

In other news, high jumper Christina Honsel cleared 1.92 meters and can still dream of an Olympic medal. Imke Onnen also joined Honsel in the final with a clearance of 1.88 meters. Meanwhile, triple jumper Caroline Joyeux finished tenth in her World Championships final debut, reaching 14.00 meters.

The German Athletics Federation has won three silvers after six days of the World Championship. With several events still to come, there is still hope for more medals.

As Weber looks ahead to the future, his coach has advised him to focus on involving his legs more in his throws. With renewed determination and a clear focus, Weber will undoubtedly be looking to bounce back and claim the global medal that has eluded him for so long.
