Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas State Wildcats Set to Square Off in 2025 Aer Lingus College Football Classic

The 2025 Aer Lingus College Football Classic is set to take place in Dublin, Ireland, with a highly anticipated matchup between the Iowa State Cyclones and the Kansas State Wildcats. The game is scheduled to take place at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on an undisclosed date.

This will be the 11th instance of college football being played in Ireland, starting from 1988. The event marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time two Associated Press Top 25 teams will face off in the Emerald Isle.

Both Iowa State and Kansas State are returning their starting quarterbacks for the 2025 season. For the Cyclones, quarterback Rocco Becht will be back, having accumulated 3,505 passing yards and 25 touchdowns last season. Iowa State's top running back, Carson Hansen, also returns with statistics of 752 yards and 13 touchdowns.

On the other hand, Kansas State's dual-threat quarterback Avery Johnson will be under the guidance of new offensive coordinator Matt Wells. Johnson had 2,712 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 605 rushing yards with 7 touchdowns last season. The Wildcats will also retain their top receiver, Jayce Brown (47 catches, 823 yards, 5 touchdowns), and No. 2 running back Dylan Edwards (546 yards, 7.4 yards per carry, 5 touchdowns).

However, Iowa State will have to find replacements for their pair of star receivers - Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel - who combined for 167 catches, nearly 2,400 yards, and 17 scores. The Cyclones are considering East Carolina transfer Chase Sowell as a potential No. 1 wideout option, who averaged 19.9 yards per catch in 2024.

The offensive line of Kansas State is in flux for the upcoming season, while Iowa State's defense might not be a priority based on the high-scoring games both teams had last season.

The game holds a rare level of importance, as it is the first in a wide-open race for the Big 12's presumed College Football Playoff berth. The 2025 Aer Lingus College Football Classic promises to be an exciting start to the college football season.
