International organization commends Vietnam for upholding multilateral cooperation and respect for international law.

In New York, Ambassador Đỗ Hùng Việt, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, met with President Philemon Yang of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. During the meeting, Ambassador Đỗ Hùng Việt commended Việt Nam's development achievements, its steadfast stance, and commitment to multilateralism, international law, and the UN Charter.

President Yang expressed hopes for a successful tenure for Vietnam, contributing to improving the country's image and international standing. In response, Ambassador Đỗ Hùng Việt expressed Vietnam's readiness to share its expertise in building sustainable peace globally.

Throughout the meetings, Ambassador Đỗ Hùng Việt also met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support Atul Khare, UN Under-Secretary-General for Policy Guy Ryder, and UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu.

Vietnam's key commitments and contributions to multilateralism, international law, and the UN Charter, as highlighted in the meeting, include a steadfast commitment to multilateralism and international law, promotion of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, advocacy of the UN Charter’s enduring values, active participation in UN processes and global challenges, and support for legal and human rights priorities.

Vietnam has been recognised for its consistent and firm stance on supporting multilateralism, adhering to international law, and upholding the principles of the UN Charter. Drawing from its own historical experience of overcoming conflict, Vietnam emphasises dialogue and mutual respect as foundational to peacebuilding and sustainable development.

Vietnam underscores the importance of the UN Charter’s principles, particularly the condemnation of the use of force and the respect for self-determination and territorial integrity. Despite its own history of conflict, Vietnam has consistently chosen paths of peace, cooperation, and reconciliation, embodying the Charter’s spirit.

Vietnam reaffirms its strong commitment to the UN agenda, especially processes and initiatives addressing worldwide challenges. This demonstrates Vietnam's active engagement in multilateralism through the UN framework, enhancing its role in international dialogues and cooperation among states.

In summary, Vietnam’s role is marked by its unwavering support for multilateralism, adherence to international law, promotion of peace and sustainable development, and active contributions to the objectives and principles of the UN Charter as emphasised in its high-level engagements with the UN General Assembly leadership.
