International Obstruction of UN Gaza Resolution Sparks Hamas Israel Threat

In a dramatic turn of events, Israel has launched a ground offensive in the city of Gaza, with the aim of destroying one of the last strongholds of Hamas and securing the release of hostages. This offensive follows a series of attacks, including an attack at a border crossing between Jordan and the West Bank that claimed the lives of two more Israeli soldiers on Thursday.

The Israeli army has reported four soldiers killed and three injured in the area of Rafah by a bomb. Two divisions of Israeli troops are currently in action, with another expected to join in the coming days. A division typically consists of 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers, indicating a significant military presence.

The ground offensive has resulted in a massive displacement of civilians. More than 450,000 Palestinian residents have left the city due to the fighting. Before the offensive, approximately one million people were in the city of Gaza.

The United Nations Security Council has attempted to intervene, proposing a resolution aimed at improving the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The resolution called on Israel to lift all restrictions on the import of humanitarian aid to Gaza. However, the US has vetoed this resolution, justifying its decision by stating that the resolution would have supported the terrorist group Hamas.

The veto has drawn criticism from international leaders, with French President Emmanuel Macron warning of Israel's loss of reputation due to its military actions and the many civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip.

In response to the offensive, Hamas has threatened the Israeli army and stated that it would not take into account the hostages. Currently, there are 48 hostages in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli information.

As the conflict continues, the Israeli army is preparing for a 'complex house-to-house battle.' More than 1,200 targets have been attacked during the ground offensive, according to the Israeli army.

The conflict has also seen an unusual incident at the border with Jordan, where a Jordanian suspected perpetrator arrived with a truck intended to transport humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

The situation in Gaza remains tense and uncertain, with the potential for further escalation and loss of life. The international community continues to call for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and an end to the suffering of the civilian population.
