In a show of unity, Arab and Islamic leaders have gathered in Doha, Qatar, following an emergency summit on Monday. The meeting, suspected to be chaired by Saudi Arabia, was convened after receiving two official requests – one from Pakistan on behalf of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the other from Kuwait on behalf of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

The urgent gathering comes in response to Israel's airstrike on Qatar on September 9, 2025, which targeted Hamas leaders and resulted in the deaths of six Hamas members and a Qatari security officer. Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has urged the world to 'stop using double standards' and hold Israel accountable for its actions, stating that they are being encouraged by the silence and inability of the international community to take action.

Among the leaders expected at Monday's summit are Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, who arrived in Doha on Sunday, is also in attendance.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has also stated that Israel's 'war of extermination' in Gaza would not succeed. Monday's meeting will consider 'a draft resolution on the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar'.

U.S. President Donald Trump has made cautious remarks about the situation, stating that when attacking people, they must be careful. The United Nations Human Rights Council will host an urgent debate on Israel's airstrike targeting Hamas leaders in Qatar on Tuesday.

It remains to be seen whether Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, will attend the gathering. Qatar hosts the largest U.S. military base in the region, which could potentially impact the political dynamics of the emergency meeting.

This gathering serves as a significant display of unity among Gulf countries and seeks to pile more pressure on Israel, calling for accountability and an end to double standards in the international community.
