Next year, France will be hosting the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains. Prezzy Macron announced his plans to invite the heads of state during the current gathering in Canada. France scored the presidency of the group of leading democratic economic powers, taking over from Canada.

Évian-les-Bains, a charming spa town nestled near the Swiss border in the Alps, will play host to the 52nd G7 Summit next year. With its mineral-rich water sources and picturesque backdrop, it's no surprise that the town has previously hosted a G8 summit in 2003, before Russia departed. The Summit is set to unfold between June 14-16, according to Macron's spokesperson.

This will be Macron's second G7 summit as the host, having successfully hosted the gang back in 2019 at the seaside resort of Biarritz. Despite the shake-up in political landscapes worldwide since then, the G7 includes the USA, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Canada, Japan, and the European Union.

Economic and Geopolitical Challenges AwaitÉvian-les-Bains promises to be a battleground for critical economic and geopolitical issues. Key themes on the agenda in 2026 are expected to revolve around macroeconomic stability and growth, climate change and energy transition, global health threats, industrial strategy and economic security, and development finance and poverty reduction.

France aims to establish consensus on these issues, keeping divisive matters for later discussions or private conversations to ensure the summit runs smoothly. The G7, particularly under Macron's leadership, hopes to tackle these challenges pragmatically, adapting to the shifting global power landscape.

With volatile tensions worldwide, the 2026 G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains could significantly influence the future of international cooperation among the world's wealthiest economies. Delegates are expected to work together on issues like global economic stability, climate action, managing health crises, securing supply chains, and poverty alleviation.

The summit may also carry sentimental value for Macron, potentially serving as his final opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the G7's direction. Win or lose, Macron will make his last stand in Évian-les-Bains next year.

The 2026 G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains will be a focal point for debating critical economic and geopolitical issues such as macroeconomic stability, climate change, global health threats, industrial strategy, and development finance.
