Get ready to funk it up as the FinEst Funk Festival lands in Estonia and Finland from 14-16 March! This event is a groovy blend of big names and rising stars, guaranteed to have locals and music enthusiasts alike auto-tuning their dance moves.

Making its Estonian debut is the European big band flagship, Norbotten Big Band, teaming up with instrumental funk extraordinaires Nine Sparks Riots. Led by saxophonist Joakim Milder, Norbotten Big Band has shared stages with heavyweights like Joe Lovano, Toots Thielemans, and Chris Potter.

Joining the fun will be Italian sensation Giacomo Turra, whose love for funk was sparked by his dad’s record collection at the tender age of 13. Turra has collaborated with music legends from around the globe, including Brandon “TAZ” Niederauer, Jessica Burdeaux, and Augie Bello.

Homegrown funk will be present too, with the Estonian Funk Unit showcasing their project Eesti Groove'i Radadel, paying tribute to late Estonian singer Marju Kuut and trumpeter Jaan Kuman. Representing the Finnish funk scene will be We Got Soul, featuring Sam Huber.

Organizer Sten Valdmaa promises a smoking-hot list of artists sure to provide a thrilling listening experience for both seasoned fans and newcomers. Last year, they introduced crowd-favorite Philip Lassiter, who went on to perform at the Estonian Jazz Festival. Keep an eye out for hidden gems that just might make a repeat appearance!

  • 14 March, Tartu, Estonia - Alexela Creative Stage
