Pratik Gandhi's Gandhi Series to Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival 2025

Pratik Gandhi's portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in the series "Gandhi" is generating significant anticipation, as it has been selected for the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025. This marks a historic moment, as "Gandhi" becomes the first Indian series to be included in TIFF's Primetime slate, demonstrating the festival's confidence in the series' quality and international appeal.

Directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Applause Entertainment, "Gandhi" promises a deeply personal and multi-dimensional portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi. The series delves into not only his life but also the broader Indian independence struggle, offering a rich narrative depth that has been compared to "The Crown."

The series draws heavily from the literature of Ramachandra Guha's books titled "Gandhi Before India" and "Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World." Bhamini Oza plays Kasturba Gandhi in the series, while Tom Felton, known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, appears as Josiah Oldfield.

The involvement of acclaimed composer AR Rahman and a strong supporting international cast further enhances the series' profile. With these factors and the positive early buzz, it is reasonable to expect that Pratik Gandhi's performance will attract critical acclaim and appreciation at TIFF 2025, strengthening the series' reception both in India and internationally.

Hansal Mehta, who is a long-time collaborator with Pratik Gandhi, expressed his joy on the series being selected for the world premiere at TIFF 2025, describing it as an "absolute labour of love." The selection has left the makers, director, and lead actors elated.

In other news, Netflix has announced a crime caper film titled "Inspector Zende," starring Manoj Bajpayee and Jim Sarbh. The Toronto International Film Festival 2025 will have 50 editions, running from September 4-14. In addition to "Gandhi" and "Inspector Zende," the Primetime Programme includes "The Lowdown" by Sterlin Harjo with Ethan Hawke, "Wayward," a Netflix- Canada original, "Black Rabbit" starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman, the Iranian series "The Savage" by Houman Seyyedi, and the documentary "Origin: The Story of the Basketball African League."

TheSelected series "Gandhi," featuring Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi, promises an enticing blend of entertainment in the category of movies-and-tv at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025, given its historical significance as the first Indian series to be included in TIFF's Primetime slate. The series, which delves into Mahatma Gandhi's life and the broader Indian independence struggle, is anticipated to garner critical acclaim and international appeal.
