International Drone Alliance Commits to €2.75 Billion Aid for Ukraine in the Year 2025

The International Drone Coalition, consisting of 18 member states, including the United Kingdom, Latvia, Germany, France, Poland, Sweden, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Italy, New Zealand, Czechia, and Ukraine, has pledged €2.75 billion in support of Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression in 2025.

According to the Latvian Ministry of Defense, reported by the Oboronka project of Mezha Media, Turkey and Belgium have expressed their intention to join the coalition. If approved, the coalition will grow to 20 member states.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds made the announcement during the Drone Summit in Riga on May 28, 2025. He stated that the expansion of the coalition would increase the supply of drones to Ukraine while strengthening the defense industries of Latvia, EU, and NATO countries.

Since its establishment on February 14, 2024, the drone coalition has provided significant support to Ukraine, allocating €1.8 billion in 2024. Over two years, the total support will reach €4.5 billion.

Minister Spruds also noted that coalition members have collectively contributed approximately €180 million to the UK-led UAV procurement fund. This fund supports centralized drone procurement alongside national support measures by each member country.

Latvia plans to allocate €20 million in 2025 for drone purchases within the coalition framework, plus an additional €10 million for collaborative projects with Ukrainian defense companies. In 2024, Latvia contributed €20 million and supplied nearly 5,000 combat drones to Ukraine.

The coalition was established to provide significant support to Ukraine, battling Russian aggression. The addition of Turkey and Belgium would further bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities.

Technology advancements, with the increase in drone production and acquisition, will play a crucial role in the cultural exchange between the coalition members and Ukraine. The enhanced health and well-being of Ukrainian citizens, especially military personnel, will be aided by this technology-driven support, while sports events may also benefit from the improved surveillance and security provided by drones.
