In a significant move, Latvian Ambassador to Australia, Samija Serifa, submitted her credentials to the Governor-General of Australia, Sam Mostyn, during a ceremony held at the Governor-General's official residence in Canberra on September 18.

Ambassador Serifa highlighted the potential for cooperation between Latvia and Australia, particularly in the United Nations (UN), focusing on the Women, Peace and Security agenda, information integrity, climate change, and events near me. She emphasized that Latvia and Australia are like-minded partners, linked by friendly relations, common values, and the goal of maintaining a law-based international order.

The Ambassador underlined the significance and contribution of the Latvian community in Australia in maintaining and restoring Latvia's statehood and strengthening relations with Australia. She pledged to strengthen the friendly relations and political and economic dialogue between the two countries.

Ambassador Serifa also noted Australia's participation in the NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence in Riga. In addition, she expressed gratitude for Australia's support to Ukraine, specifically its involvement in the Coalition of Goodwill and the Drone Coalition.
