International Delegates Gathering in Reykjavik Today for PACE Meeting
The cradle of music and history, Reykjavik, welcomes the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) today, as Harpa Concert Hall gets ready to echo the voices of over 60 assembly members from 46 countries.

As the day unfolds, the ball will be in Iceland's court, both literarlly and figuratively. Birgir Ármannsson will usher in the meeting with an opening address. This will be followed by a heart-to-heart exchange of views with the country's Foreign Minister, Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, in the context of Iceland's Presidential reign of the Committee of Ministers.

Not a day to ignore the harsh realities of the digital world, today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Joining forces to tackle this rising menace is the much-awaited event on "Digital violence against women". In the ring will be none other than Iceland's Prime Minister and Equality Minister, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, alongside the National Commissioner of Police and GREVIO member María Rún Bjarnadóttir, and the head of the Sexual Offences Investigation Division, Ævar Pálmi Pálmason. As the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine escalates, PACE parliamentarians will gather for a heated debate on the topic.
