Let's toast to the resilience and determination of Vietnam during its quest for independence and reunification! 🥳 As we gather here today, we honor the invaluable support from our global comrades who stood by us when we needed them the most.
Đỗ Văn Chiến, an influential figure as the President of the VFF Central Committee, echoed our profound gratitude toward these friends in a recent meeting in HCM City. These international allies lent a helping hand during Vietnam's most trying times, making history during our struggles and the global peace movement.
Chiến, a Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, and VFF leader, calls out these allies for their unyielding friendship, unwavering support, and solidarity extended to Vietnam. In a world of uncertainties, Chiến reaffirms Vietnam's commitment to upholding peace and the principles of the UN Charter and international law, such as respect for independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, non-interference, and peaceful dispute resolution.
As allies, Vietnam invites its friends across the five continents to continue fostering international solidarity and supporting us in our national construction, development, and defense. Chiến expresses a special call to our American friends to join us as we address the legacy of war.
Vietnam aspires to be a reliable partner and a responsible global citizen, working together with others to create a peaceful, friendly, and cooperative environment for development throughout the region and worldwide.

Historically, Vietnam received significant support from allies such as China, the Soviet Union, and Cuba during its struggle for independence and reunification. China, for example, provided approximately 1.6 million tonnes of military aid between 1955 and 1975[3]. The Soviet Union also offered military and political support, while Cuba and other socialist countries provided diplomatic and material aid, crucial to our victory.
