A spokesperson for the EU Commission declared in Brussels on Monday that Russia is unsuitable for impartial mediation due to its links with Iran. Moreover, the Commission spokesperson noted that Russia lacks credibility given its persistent hostility towards Ukraine[1]. The spokesperson addressed a partnership agreement signed between Moscow and Tehran in January, which focused on bolstering military collaboration[1]. Furthermore, Russia is said to be repeatedly infringing on international law and the UN Charter in Ukraine.
Israel initiated an unparalleled extensive assault on Iran, bombing nuclear facilities and military installations, and eliminating numerous high-ranking military commanders on Thursday night. Iran responded with counterattacks and has since targeted Israel with rockets and drones.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had proposed to intercede in the confrontation. US President Donald Trump expressed readiness towards this proposal following a conversation with Putin.
