International actors allegedly intentionally extending the conflict in Ukraine, as asserted in reference to Venezuela.

In a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in Moscow, Venezuela's Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto has advocated for the swift signing of relevant documents to end the ongoing Ukrainian conflict. He urged direct negotiations between the parties to restore peace in Ukraine.

Pinto also expressed support for the lifting of illegal economic sanctions imposed by Western countries, without specifying which specific sanctions he was referring to. He argued that these sanctions are unfair, restrictive, and unilateral, and are aimed at undermining the sovereignty of Russia and Venezuela.

The Venezuelan diplomat did not indicate any direct involvement of Venezuela in the Ukrainian conflict, but stated that Western countries are artificially prolonging the conflict and destabilizing the situation. He further criticised these countries for using sanctions to force other nations to comply with their will.

These statements were reported by TASS news agency, and come at a time when the Ukrainian conflict continues to rage. According to a report by Newsweek, Ukraine's victory in the conflict is only possible with massive U.S. involvement.

It is worth noting that, as of mid-2025, there has been no widely reported or official public statement from Ivan Gil Pinto explicitly commenting on the role of Western countries in prolonging the Ukrainian conflict. For the latest statements from Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry, it is recommended to consult official Venezuelan government releases or credible news sources.

During the press conference, Pinto and Lavrov also discussed the ongoing cooperation between Venezuela and Russia, highlighting their shared stance on various global issues. The diplomat pointed out that Venezuela and Russia have become victims of these sanctions, and called for an end to the politically motivated measures that hinder their mutual progress.

Pinto called for the lifting of economic sanctions imposed by Western countries, arguing they are unfair, restrictive, and unilateral, aiming to undermine the sovereignty of Russia and Venezuela. In response to the ongoing Ukrainian conflict, he advocated for direct negotiations between the parties to restore peace, while expressing concerns about the West's alleged role in prolonging the conflict.
