Intercepted action thwarted: video of swift UAV demolition in Black Sea released

In a significant development, the Russian military has thwarted a sabotage operation by the Ukrainian military in the Black Sea. The incident, which took place in the night from August 19 to 20, was revealed by the Russian Ministry of Defense on August 20.

The operation, it appears, was directed towards the Crimean cape of Tarhankut from Odessa. One of the Ukrainian military's landing crafts was destroyed by a "Lancet" loitering munition team, according to the Ministry's statement. However, no further details were provided about the nature of the sabotage operation related to the craft destruction.

The destruction of the craft occurred over the past 24 hours. Simultaneously, three members of a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group were detained by FSB officers, along with Rosguard and police, on the territory of the Bryansk region. Reconnaissance and objective control were carried out by a Zala reconnaissance UAV team.

The Russian Ministry of Defense released operational control footage of the incident. The detained members of the group were of Ukrainian nationality. It is not specified whether they were involved in the same sabotage operation as the one thwarted in the Crimean cape of Tarhankut.

Sadly, three more members of the same Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group were killed. It is not clear if the craft destruction and the detainment/killing of the saboteurs are related events. No information was provided about any potential involvement of the Lancet loitering munition team, Zala reconnaissance UAV team, or Rubicon teams in the craft destruction or saboteur detainment/killing events.

What is known, however, is that the sabotage attempt was thwarted with the help of "Rubicon" teams. The location of the detainment was on the territory of the Bryansk region. It is also noteworthy that the detained and killed members of the group were trained by Western colleagues.

The Black Sea Fleet also destroyed two small, fast Ukrainian military craft in the Black Sea. The exact circumstances surrounding these incidents are yet to be disclosed. The incident marks a significant escalation in tensions between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea region.
