Interactive Engagement within the Cathedral's Walls
Starting from August 4, 2025, a unique cleaning operation for an intriguing creature known as "Elephants" has commenced at the harbor. However, our focus today is on a different spectacle unfolding in the heart of Münster, Germany.
The German edition of the LUMINISCENCE light art project, a brainchild of French producer LOTCHI, is set to make its debut at St. Paul's Cathedral on September 4, 2025. This 360° illumination experience aims to revive cultural institutions with emotion, technology, and storytelling.
Actress Mechthild Großmann, a Münster native and renowned for her role as State Prosecutor Klemm in "Tatort", will narrate the story of the cathedral. The event will feature modern projection and light art accompanied by live music from a choir and organ, promising a multimedia experience like no other.
St. Paul's Cathedral, which celebrated its 800th anniversary of foundation, will serve as the perfect backdrop for this groundbreaking project. Interestingly, Großmann received her First Communion at St. Paul's Cathedral, further deepening the connection between the actress and the cathedral.
For those eager to witness this spectacle, public bookings for performances begin on September 5th. Alongside individual tickets, group offers and exclusive corporate events are available.
The German implementation of LUMINISCENCE is being handled by Cologne-based companies Brainpool Live Entertainment and CAPE CROSS Entertainment Services, in collaboration with the Diocese of Münster.
While our search did not yield specific information about other light art events or projects in Germany around the same time, such as the LUMINISCENCE light art project in Berlin or the Peace street art plein air event in Ventspils, Latvia, it's worth noting that the Festival of Lights Berlin 2025 is also upcoming.
