Bay Area Update: Contained Vegetation Fire in Oakland

Hey there! Guess what went down in Oakland, California last weekend? A wild one, folks! A three-alarm fire initially reported around 8 PM near Skyline Boulevard and Grass Valley Road was put out, thanks to the efforts of various agencies, including the Oakland Fire Department, Cal Fire, East Bay Regional Park District, and Oakland Police Department. Over 50 firefighters battled the flames.

Luckily, the fire didn't manage to torch any buildings. The flames' advance was stopped by 10:10 PM. Firefighters established a perimeter around the blaze and remained on the scene to monitor for any flare-ups—they stayed put through the night.

The scene was managed from an incident command post located at the intersection of Skyline and Grass Valley. Oakland Fire Chief Damon Covington provided updates, assuring people that while the fire is contained, personnel would remain in the area overnight for safety precautions. As of now, no injuries have been reported.

However, while we're on the topic of fires, the smoke from this incident caused a drop in air quality in Lamorinda. Neighbors in Orinda, Lafayette, and Poets Corner reported smelling intense smoke all night.
