Intensified hunt for Travis Decker amidst suspected spotting along Pacific Crest Trail near Snoqualmie Pass

In a recent development, investigative leads have pointed towards a possible sighting of Travis Decker, a fugitive accused of kidnapping and murdering his three daughters, near the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) at Snoqualmie Pass, Washington.

On August 1, 2025, the King County Sheriff's Office received a tip around 6 p.m. from a community member who believed they saw Decker near the Snoqualmie Pass and PCT area. This led to a large coordinated search involving deputies, K-9 units, the TAC-30 helicopter, the Guardian 1 helicopter, and drones. Neighbouring law enforcement agencies were also notified.

Despite the extensive search efforts lasting approximately three hours, Decker was not located, and the search was called off around 9:15 p.m. No further information has been released, and it remains unclear if the search will continue in this area, especially since tips have decreased and authorities have scaled back some search efforts recently.

Travis Decker has been missing for over two months since his daughters’ bodies were found June 2, 2025, at a Leavenworth campground following a planned visitation that ended tragically. The bodies of Decker's daughters were discovered at a campground near Leavenworth.

Investigators found zip ties and plastic bags scattered throughout the area where the girls' bodies were found. A bloody fingerprint on the tailgate of the truck found at the campground matches the DNA profile believed to be Travis Decker's. DNA samples from items believed to be Decker's, taken from the scene near the Rock Island campground, also match the DNA from the blood samples on the truck's tailgate.

Court documents obtained by KOMO News show that Decker Google searched "how does a person move to Canada," "how to relocate to Canada," and "jobs Canada" in the days before he kidnapped his daughters. Decker, an infantryman in the Army from March 2013 to July 2021, was deployed to Afghanistan for four months in 2014.

The Chelan County medical examiner determined the cause of death for Decker's daughters as suffocation, and the manner of death as homicide. Travis Decker is charged with three counts of murder and kidnapping, and federal prosecutors have also charged him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

The search for Decker has been ongoing, involving local and federal law enforcement, since his daughters' bodies were discovered on June 2. The King County Sheriff's Office is currently searching near Snoqualmie Pass for possible sightings of Decker. However, Kittitas County Sheriff's Office officials stated that there is no proof Decker is alive.

A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading directly to Decker's arrest. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office is still assessing evidence and searching for new investigative leads. Despite a decrease in leads and tips regarding Decker's whereabouts, the search continues, with the hope that this latest sighting leads to a break in the case.

The bodies of all three girls were found approximately 75 to 100 yards away from Decker's vehicle at the Rock Island Campground near Leavenworth. The girls' wrists were zip-tied, or appeared to have been zip-tied, and each had a bag over their head.

As the search for Decker continues, the community remains on high alert, hoping for a resolution to this heart-wrenching case. The authorities urge anyone with information to come forward, as every piece of information brings them one step closer to justice for the victims and their families.
