Nine Suspects Arrested in Connection with the Brutal Murder of Journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin

In a significant development, nine individuals have been identified and arrested in relation to the killing of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur last year. Among the suspects are Faisal alias Ketu Mizan, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the murder, his wife Golap, Sumon, Al Amin, Swadhin, Md. Shahjalal, Md. Faisal Hasan, Shahidul, and the most recent arrestee Rafiqul Islam Arman. Six suspects were taken into custody by the police, while three were apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

One of the arrested suspects, Md. Shahjalal, has confessed to his involvement in the heinous crime, with his confession recorded by the Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Two separate cases have been filed regarding the murder: one by Tuhin’s elder brother and another by the brother of Badsha Mia, a person who was injured during the initial attack.

On August 7, 2025, Tuhin was brutally hacked to death after filming an assault, reportedly capturing armed men assaulting a man. The attackers demanded he delete the video, but after he refused and identified himself as a journalist, they chased and killed him with machetes.

Currently, the suspects remain in custody, and legal proceedings are underway. However, detailed updates on the current status of trials or verdicts have not been reported. Authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served in this case.

The government has emphasized its commitment to ensuring justice for this inhumane act. Anyone with further information or complaints related to the murder of Asaduzzaman Tuhin is encouraged to come forward. In a separate incident, the attorney general attended a citizens' rally in Baruipara village of Shailkupa and held discussions with members of the Hindu community.
