Intense Triathlon Participation at Lake Tankum: Over 700 Competitors Participate

Kickstart Your Weekend with the BRAWO Tankumsee Triathlon!

Mark your calendars, sports enthusiasts! This Sunday, the picturesque Tankumsee shall be buzzing with athletic exhilaration as we gear up for the 21st round of the BRAWO Tankumsee Triathlon, hosted by VfL Wolfsburg e.V. Over 700 individuals are poised to challenge themselves, ready to dive headfirst into this thrilling event.

The action-packed day begins at high noon with a whopping 100 men taking the plunge. districts' honcho, Mr. Meyer zu Schlochtern, will sound the starting horn. Subsequent groups of 200 women, starting every ten minutes, will gracefully follow suit. It's worth mentioning that the women's slots were snapped up in record time, swiftly followed by the men's contingent. Wiebke Bachmeier, the chairwoman of VfL Wolfsburg e.V., couldn't be happier to share her enthusiasm: "The sheer excitement and backing for the Tankumsee Triathlon is off the charts, not just in our region but beyond. It's a testament to the event's popularity!"

A Swimming Adventure with a Plot Twist

Get ready to step up your swimming game, participants! The 500-meter swimming course embarks on an intriguing journey - you'll be swimming across the Tankumsee, exiting at the opposite shore momentarily, and then turning back for a 250-meter dash to your starting point. After conquering the water, you'll be mounting your cycle to tackle the 20-kilometer route. A grueling 5-kilometer run around the Tankumsee awaits once you've hit the pedals hard enough. The event wouldn't be possible without around 150 keen volunteers who've been on standby since the crack of dawn to ensure a hitch-free process.

Road Closures and Detours - A Brief Interruption

Take note, motorists! The K114 will be off-limits for cyclists from 10:45 AM, and normal traffic flow will resume post-haste once the last cyclist has wrapped up their cycling segment. The campsite will also be off-limits during this time. Volkmar Weichert, the organizer from VfL Wolfsburg, seeks to minimize disruptions: "We aim to keep the traffic restrictions as limited and short as possible for the convenience of residents and visitors." A designated detour has been thoughtfully set up to access the Tankumsee. The transition area will be set up on Saturday, so expect minor temporary road restrictions at the lake during that time.

Sorry, No Late Registration at the Gate

I'm afraid to break it to you, but late registrations on the actual day are out of the question - all slots have been claimed! That doesn't mean you can't be a supportive spectator, though. Cheer as loud as you can for the athletes along the route and in the fortified finish area. Anticipate the first champion to cross the finish line around noon.
