Intense thunderstorms with hailstorms hit Chelyabinsk region
Hey now, buddy! Here's the scoop on what's going down in Chelyabinsk and the surrounding areas:
On June 17th, it's gonna be a wild one in some parts of Chelyabinsk, with thunderstorms, hail, and some seriously aggressive winds - up to 18 meters per second! Don't get caught off guard, because the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Public Safety have issued a storm alert for the region. Listen up, here's their advice:
- If the winds pick up, hang tight indoors and limit building exits.
- Don't leave your ride parked under a tree or near buildings, to keep your property from getting smashed.
- Stay away from damaged power lines and weakly secured structures.
- If you find yourself out in the open when the winds start howling, find some shelter in underground passageways or building entrances.
The Chelyabinsk Meteorological Center filled us in on the reason behind this ruckus: a southern cyclone and a low-pressure trough from the north are joining forces on June 17th, stirring up a tempest of rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds for the region. At night, temperatures will rage between 14°C and 19°C, dropping even lower in low-lying areas to 11°C. But during the day, the mercury will climb from 19°C to 24°C, with temperatures soaring to 27°C in the south. This carnival of chaos is expected to last until June 22nd in the Southern Urals.
