Intense heat predicted for Belarus, with temperatures expected to rise above 30 degrees

European weather centres have forecast a wave of 40-degree heat that will hit southern and central parts of Europe next week. This heatwave is expected to move from west to east, with central and southern Europe experiencing temperatures up to 40°C during these days.

Meanwhile, Belarus is bracing for a change in weather. A cyclonic trough is set to pass through the country at the beginning of next week, ending the recent rain and thunderstorms. This trough, an elongated area of low pressure, usually brings unsettled weather but tends to clear as it moves away.

Following the cyclonic trough, a high-altitude anticyclonic ridge from southern Europe will move towards Belarus. This ridge, associated with sinking air that prevents cloud formation, is likely to bring warmer temperatures and less rainfall due to its stabilizing effect on the atmosphere.

According to Belhydromet, temperatures in Belarus may reach +24°C to +30°C by the end of the week, with hotter temperatures in the southwest. By the weekend, temperatures in southern Belarus may even reach 30 degrees.

The third week of August is expected to be warmer than normal in Belarus, with no significant rainfall expected. The start of the new workweek is expected to be noticeably cooler, with temperatures not exceeding +26°C even in the southern regions of Brest and Gomel. However, hot weather with temperatures of +27°C to +31°C is expected to hit Belarus around Wednesday, August 13.

On Monday, August 11, the night temperature is expected to be between +9°C to +16°C, and the day temperature between +18°C to +25°C. Wind is expected to be gusty northwesterly, with strong gusts in places during the day. Across the country on Sunday, August 10, state meteorologists predict moderately warm weather ranging from +22°C to +28°C.

The warm spell in Belarus is expected to last at least until August 20. The cooler weather experienced earlier is due to unstable air masses coming from the Baltic Sea. After the cyclonic trough, there will be very little rainfall in Belarus.

In summary, the cyclonic trough passing through Belarus at the beginning of the next week will conclude the ongoing rainy and stormy period, and the subsequent high-altitude ridge will bring warmer temperatures and drier weather for the days following next week.
