The Thai Meteorological Department has forecast widespread thundershowers across the country, with a reduction in rainfall expected today, according to a report by Reuters [1]. While there is currently no active warning or advisory specifically for mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, mariners are advised to exercise caution in areas with thunderstorms.

Wave heights are reported to be generally mild at 1 to 2 meters, occasionally exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm zones [1][5]. Mariners are urged to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in stormy areas, as waves can exceed 2 meters in such spots [1].

Current wind activity in these maritime areas is relatively weak, with southwesterly winds at 10-20 km/h, consistent with mild wave heights [1][5]. There were no new maritime security or weather warnings related to strong winds or storms announced beyond these advisories as of early August 2025 [3][4].

In the South (east coast) of Thailand, waves are expected to be about a metre high and above 2 metres high in areas affected by thunderstorms. Minimum temperatures in the South (east coast) will range from 24-26°C, while maximum temperatures will range from 33-36°C [2]. In the South (west coast), waves are expected to be about a metre high and above 2 metres high in areas affected by thunderstorms. Minimum temperatures in the South (west coast) will range from 24-25°C, while maximum temperatures will range from 32-35°C [2].

In the East region of Thailand, scattered thundershowers are mostly in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Minimum temperatures in the East region will range from 25-27°C, while maximum temperatures will range from 33-37°C [2]. In the Central region, scattered thundershowers are expected in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon. Minimum temperatures in the Central region will range from 23-26°C, while maximum temperatures will range from 35-36°C [2].

In the North of Thailand, scattered thundershowers are expected in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Tak, and Nan. Minimum temperatures in the North will range from 23-25 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures will range from 33-36°C [2]. In the Northeast of Thailand, isolated thundershowers are expected in Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani. Minimum temperatures in the Northeast will range from 23-25 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures will range from 33-36°C [2].

In the Bangkok metropolitan area, scattered thundershowers are expected, with minimum temperatures ranging from 26-27°C and maximum temperatures ranging from 35-36°C [2].

The thundershowers are expected due to a low-pressure cell covering northern Laos and Vietnam, combined with the prevailing southwest monsoon [1].
