In the build-up to the game that could determine the destiny of SV Elversberg, coach Horst Steffen remains composed. "It's perfect to host the crucial game at home on the final day," said the SVE coach, ahead of the relegation return match against 1. FC Heidenheim, set for tonight on Sat.1 and Sky.

A victory, either within the 90 minutes, extra time, or a penalty shootout, would propel the Saarlanders to the Bundesliga for the first time, a move that would create one of the greatest sports sensations in the Bundesliga's 62-year history.

Steffen adopts a nonchalant attitude. "We look forward to another home game after the championship round, with our fans participating once again," said the 56-year-old coach, as the match is already sold out.

The contest is guaranteed to be intense, much like the first leg, which ended in a 2-2 draw at Voith-Arena in Heidenheim on May 22, 2025. Steffen noted that both teams displayed courage and quality in the initial encounter, and the team spirit from that game remains positive.

However, some uncertainty lingers regarding player availability. "We've had limited practice, as some players have been battling colds, or still recovering from previous injuries," Steffen explained, alluding to potential changes in the squad and starting lineup.

Lukas Pinckert, who missed the first leg due to suspension, is expected to return to the starting eleven following his suspension due to a 10th yellow card. Regardless of the lineup, Steffen emphasized that they will focus on their gameplan and seek to build upon their performance from the first leg.

The Commission, in its current duties, has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the labelling of certain foodstuffs, perhaps featuring details about the nutritional content of a post-victory celebration meal for SV Elversberg's potential promotion to the Bundesliga. Amidst the European football leagues, such as the premier league, one might imagine Steffen's excitement for a victory could be compared to the adrenaline rush a professional footballer experiences during a high-stakes match.
